Building the Space Industry We Want to Work In

Apsis was founded by space industry veterans who believe the next generation of spacecraft deserves a next-generation supply chain.

We're engineers, spacecraft builders, and longtime friends based in Quebec. We've spent our careers developing technology for some of Canada's and North America's most successful commercial space companies.

Now we're building something of our own.

We Believe Space Hardware Can Be Better

The commercial space industry has changed dramatically.

Companies are building larger constellations. Development cycles are getting shorter. Spacecraft are becoming more capable. And customers increasingly expect space systems to behave like commercial products rather than bespoke engineering projects.

But much of the aerospace supply chain still operates the old way: High costs. Long lead times. Rigid products. One-off designs.

We know the frustration because we've been the customer.

We've built spacecraft and managed satellite programs. We've worked through component shortages, qualification campaigns, integration problems, changing requirements, and launch schedules.

And we've seen what happens when suppliers understand the mission — and what happens when they don't.

Apsis exists to be the kind of supplier we always wanted to work with.

Built by Commercial Space Veterans

Apsis was founded in Montreal by Eric Haengel, an aerospace engineer with more than 13 years of experience in the space and defense industries.

Before Apsis, Eric spent approximately eight years at HawkEye 360, joining during its early growth and ultimately leading the company's Space & Ground Systems organization. His experience spans spacecraft electronics, embedded systems, satellite integration and test, ground systems, mission operations, and the development of commercial satellite constellations.

He is joined at Apsis by Frédéric Fortier, Principal Embedded Software Developer and an early employee of GHGSat, one of Canada's commercial small-satellite success stories.

The broader Apsis team includes senior Quebec-based space industry professionals with experience across spacecraft, RF, embedded electronics, software, and systems engineering.

What brings us together isn't just our experience. We're friends who love building spacecraft. And we share a vision for where this industry should go next.

How We Work

Two principles guide every product we build and every relationship we start.

Let's Build What Comes Next

Apsis is building radio technology for a space industry that is becoming more ambitious, more commercial, and more capable every year.

If you're building a spacecraft, constellation, communications system, or defense capability — we'd like to hear what you're working on.
